Susan Wallin

A sparkling coloratura is the calling card of soprano Susan Wallin, whose career includes  notable performances as the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte with New York City Opera, Oper Der Stadt Köln, Central City Opera and Opera Carolina to name a few. She has performed the tour de force role of Zerbinetta in Ariadne Auf Naxos with Arizona Opera and Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Yum Yum in  The Mikado  and  Adele in Die Fledermaus  with New York City Opera, Arizona Opera and Despina in Cosi fan Tutte  with Arizona Opera.  She has also perfomed with the Kentucky Opera, Chattanooga Opera, Greensboro Opera, and Chicago Opera Theatre. Other roles include Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Josephine in HMS Pinafore and Nanetta in Falstaff.  Ms. Wallin has also appeared with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony and the North Carolina Symphony.  Her orchestral repertoire includes C Minor Mass, Requiem (Mozart),  Requiem(Faure),  Lord Nelson Mass, The Creation (Haydn), Exultate Jubilate, (Mozart), The Messiah (Handel), Carmina Burana (Orff) and others. 

Awards include a 10,000 first prize at the MacAllister Awards, as well as first place with Opera Columbus and Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions. Ms Wallin, an Akron native, has won first place twice with both the Tuesday Musical Club Gertrude Pflaum Scholarship and the Akron Symphony Chorus John MacDonald Vocal Scholarship.

Ms. Wallin made her Carnegie Hall debut singing  the Messiah with The Masterworks Chorus under the direction of David Briskin. She performed in Mozart’s C Minor Mass with the North Carolina Symphony and the Canton Symphony. Recently, Ms. Wallin appeared with the Ashland Symphony in Carmina Burana, Wooster Symphony singing Mozart Concert Arias, The Akron Symphony in The Messiah, with Opera Cleveland in  A Little Night Music and Il Barbieri di Siviglia  and with Canton Symphony in the Coffee Contata and Bach Cantata #51 Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen, with Akron Baroque. Ms. Wallin also teaches voice at West Side Vocal Academy in Akron and at the College of Wooster.
