'Good News' by Susan Yaeger

“Good news.”  Now there’s something we haven’t heard a lot of these days. Isn’t it a good thing that you found your way to the fabulous new Richmond Symphony Orchestra website because there’s plenty of good—no, make it ‘great’—news to share here!

The RSO has reached senior citizen status and we are kicking up our 55-year-old heels this season to show the community that there’s lots of spunk left in our venerable organization. The Board, staff, and musicians look forward to sharing the new face of the RSO, starting right now. From a fresh new logo to ticket prices that are less than the cost of dinner and a movie, we have something that people of all ages can enjoy.

We thought that both long-time and new fans of the RSO might enjoy a behind-the-scenes view of how and why we made the decisions we have to kick off the 2011-12 season, “Celebrate, Share, Soar!”  Many of the steps we have taken are very bold for an orchestra and a community of our size, particularly during a challenging economic climate. We hope you will find this discussion interesting and feel free to join in with questions of your own. Come back often!
